Newborn FAQs
When should I book my session?
I recommend booking during your 2nd trimester. I take a limited number of due dates each month to ensure availability. Spots are held by due date with your session time determined after baby arrives. Newborn sessions are best anytime from 6-16 days. I sometimes have last minute openings and if your little one is already 2+ weeks old, don't worry, we can still get beautiful newborn images!
Where is your studio?
My home studio is located just south of Lincoln in Hickman, Nebraska. The studio has a separate driveway and entrance and backs to a gorgeous lake which I often use for half outdoor, half studio sessions.

I have 11+ years experience photographing newborns and babies! I have taken several newborn safety and posing classes to ensure your baby will be comfortable and your images will look natural. One of the most common questions I get asked as a newborn photographer is how I make all the images look so perfect and get squirmy infants posed so peacefully. The answer is that I work a lot of magic during and after the shoot. I am one of the most patient people you'll ever meet and I take my time making sure your little one is calm and happy before attempting a pose. I know how to read the cues baby is giving me and I let your little one lead the session, doing the poses in the order that will best suite them. Newborn safety is my absolute priority. When hiring a newborn photographer it is important that your preferred photographed is trained not just how to wield a camera but in how to ensure baby is kept comfortable and safe throughout the session. I am known for my composite editing. I will often have parents place a supporting hand on baby and edit it out later to ensure your baby's safety or I may combine a backdrop scene with an image of your baby (like my famous baby sleeping on a moon pose) to get a beautiful dreamy image. I hand edit every image, eliminating jaundice, scratches and blotchy skin that is very common with newborns. I edit blemishes, dark circles and fine lines in tired parents leaving you with beautiful images of the whole family. I provide all props, wraps, hats, headbands and outfits and I'm happy to work with you to make any ideas you have come to life!
What can I expect at my newborn session?
You'll receive my prep guide a few days before your session to set you up for successful photos! I offer a flexible arrival window so you aren't rushed to get here and we take as many breaks as baby needs with no session time limit. All props, swaddles, headbands and hats provided but I am also happy to incorporate anything special you'd like to bring. Drinks and snacks are available for you and there is a playroom for the new big sibling!
What can I expect after my newborn session?
Within 72 hours after your session, you'll receive your proofing gallery of the best 40-60 images. You choose your favorite images to be edited and purchase a digital collection after viewing your proofs. Your selected images will be hand edited and delivered via digital download within 2 weeks. A print release is included so you can print and share your images wherever you'd like! Handcrafted albums, fine art prints, keepsake boxes and wall art are available as add ons. I limit the number of due dates I book each month to ensure availability whenever your little one decides to arrive.
How do cake smashes work?
If you'd like to end your little one's first birthday session with a cake smash I will help you plan the theme and set up and provide any props that I have! You provide a mini 5-6" cake and any banner/balloons.
